The IMA Preamble
Injustice Myopia Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their
experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their
common condition and help others to recover from Injustice Myopia. The only
requirement for membership is a desire to stop injustice. There are no dues or
fees for IMA membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions.
IMA is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution;
does not wish to engage in any specific controversy; neither endorses nor
opposes any specific causes. Our primary purpose is to stay peaceful and help
other Injustice Myopics to achieve a just peace.
Injustice Myopia: n 1. An extreme focus on the cause, symptoms and cure of
injustice.
2. Looking at the injustice at hand, not allowing for larger reasons.
I have “Injustice Myopia.” I am so aware of and upset by the injustices in the
world that I may go crazy with depression and anger unless I take the cure. The
cure is to Wage Peace and Justice. Working to make the world more just,
reduces feelings of powerlessness and creates a more just world. Carrying out
these activities in the company of like-minded people builds friendships,
networks and communities. Feeling empowered, living in a more just world
gives the confidence that peace is possible. Working for personal peace and
world peace is the healthiest part of all religions.
Mathew 5:6 God blesses those who are hungry and thirsty for justice, for they
will receive it in full.
How It Works
unfortunates. They are not at fault; they seem to have been born that way. They
unfortunates. They are not at fault; they seem to have been born that way. They
are naturally incapable of grasping and developing a manner of living which
demands rigorous love. Their chances are less than average.
demands rigorous love. Their chances are less than average.
There are those, too, who suffer from grave emotional and mental disorders,
but many of them do recover if they have the capacity to love.
Our stories disclose in a general way what we used to be like, what happened,
and what we are like now. If you have decided you want what we have and are
willing to go to any length to get it -- then you are ready to take certain steps.
At some of these we balked. We thought we could find an easier, softer way.
But we could not. With all the earnestness at our command, we beg of you to be
fearless and thorough from the very start. Some of us have tried to hold on to
our old ideas and the result was nil until we let go absolutely.
Remember that we deal with Injustice Euphoria-cunning, baffling, powerful!
Without help it is too much for us. But there is One who has all power that One
is God. May you find God now!
Half measures availed us nothing. We stood at the turning point. We asked
God’s protection and care with complete abandon.
Here are the steps we took, which are suggested as a program of recovery:
The Twelve Steps of Injustice Myopia Anonymous
1. We admitted we were powerless over injustice by ourselves, that our
planet had become unmanageable.
2. Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore earth
to balance.
3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as
we understood God.
4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves and the
world.
5. Contemplated with God, ourselves, and other human beings the exact
nature of injustice.
6. Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of civilization
and in ourselves.
7. Humbly asked God to remove our shortcomings, as well as civilization’s.
8. Made a list of all types of people injustice had harmed, and became
willing to support them all.
9. Made direct justice to such people wherever possible, except when to do
so requires cooperation because of geography or walls. In which case steps of
cooperation are taken to address a distant Injustice.
10. Continued to take justice inventory and when we found wrong promptly
addressed it (rather than dismissing it).
11. Sought through prayer and meditations to improve our conscious
contact with God as we understood God, praying only for knowledge of God’s
will for us and the power to carry that out.
12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried
to carry this message to injustice myopics, and to practice these principles in
all our affairs.
The Twelve Traditions of Injustice Myopia - Short Form
1. Our common welfare should come first; personal recovery depends upon
IMA unity.
2. For our group purpose there is but one ultimate authority-a loving God as
God may express God in our group conscience. Our leaders are but trusted
servants; they do not govern.
3. The only requirement for IMA membership is a desire to stop injustice.
4. Each group should be autonomous except in matters affecting other
groups or IMA as a whole.
5. Each group has but one primary purpose-to carry its message to the
injustice myopic who still is suffers.
6. An IMA group ought never endorse, finance or lend the IMA name to any
related facility or outside enterprise, lest problems of money, property and
prestige divert us from our primary purpose.
7. Every IMA group ought to be fully self-supporting, declining outside
contributions.
8. Injustice Myopia Anonymous should remain forever nonprofessional, but
our service centers may employ special workers.
9. Injustice Myopia Anonymous as such, ought never be organized; but we
may create service boards or committees directly responsible to those they
serve.
10. Injustice Myopia Anonymous has no official opinion on outside issues;
hence the IMA name is less likely to be drawn into public controversy.
11. Our public relations policy is based on attraction and promotion; we
need always maintain personal anonymity at the level of press, radio and films.
12. Anonymity is the spiritual foundation of all our Traditions, ever
reminding us to place principles before personalities.
12 promises of Injustice Myopia Anonymous
1. We are going to know a new freedom and a new happiness.
2. We will not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it.
3. We will comprehend the word serenity.
4. We will know peace.
5. No matter how far down the scale life has gone, we will see how our
experience can benefit others.
6. That feeling of uselessness and self-pity will disappear.
7. We will lose interest in selfish things and gain interest in other humans.
8. Self-seeking will slip away.
9. Our whole attitude and outlook upon life will change.
10. Fear of people and of economic insecurity will leave us.
11. We will intuitively know how to handle situations which used to baffle us.
12. We will suddenly realize that God is doing for humanity what we could
not do by ourselves.
Injustice Euphoria: n 1. A feeling of well being created by an unjust situation.
2. Feeling righteous inappropriate to one’s life situation.
3. A sense of fair play that is groundless.
“Injustice Euphoria” is a dystopia where an unjust situation seems like the only
solution. Rationalizing God’s approval is only natural when an unjust situation
looks like the only solution. Supporting the victims of injustice is likened to
supporting the people God does not favor.
Being responsible for another’s unhappiness (through commission or
omission) bears down on the “Injustice Euphoria” perpetrator’s heart, and can
lead to a very hard heart. Hard hearted “Injustice Euphoria” perpetrators have
been known to rationalize almost anything, to maintain and raise their comfort
and security.
“Acute Injustice Euphoria” Makes a person think making money while
creating misery is a Win-Win situation. Being responsible for others’ misery.
(through commission or omission). The treatment for “Injustice Euphoria” is to
repent and work for a just world as hard as the unjust world was formerly
supported. People with “Injustice Myopia” can be helpful in this pursuit.
Habakkuk 2:12 Woe to him who builds a city with bloodshed and founds a
town with injustice.
I also have a clinical approach to this issue called "Injustice Sensitivity
Syndrome."
